Two students of Trinity College are nursing severe injuries at Kabale regional hospital following a fatal road accident in which a fellow student died on spot.
Rukundo Blear, 20, a senior six student was pronounced dead two hours after arrival at Kabale hospital, according to Kigezi region police.
The incident occured on March 2, at about 0530hrs at Mwanjari along Kabale Katuna road near Kabale Quality Primary School when a speeding motorcycle registration number UEF703E Bajaj boxer red in colour that was being ridden by one Ariho Eriab, 24, rammed into a group of students who were jogging facing Kabale town from Mwanjari on the right hand side of the road.
Three students were fatally knocked and rushed to a hospital where Rukundo died. Two other students namely Emmanuel Arinda 19, Bright Ankunda 19, sustained injuries and are admitted at Kabale regional hospital.
The rider of the motorcycle, Eriab Ariho was also severely injured and he is in the hospital at Kabale hospital receiving treatment.
Kigezi region police spokesperson, ASZp Elly Maate attributed the cause of accident to over speeding and reckless driving and said they are still investigating the whereabouts of the motorcycle which was hidden from the scene.
