RUKUNGIRI RANKED THE LEADING DISTRICT WITH MANY SUICIDE CASES IN KIGEZI REGION.
Lwengo and Rukungiri have been ranked the leading districts with many committed suicide cases in the country during the covid-19 pandemic.
Polly Namaye, the Deputy Police Spokesperson while speaking to Western Uganda’s Online publication MKNewslink revealed that Rukungiri is ranked the leading district with many suicide cases in Kigezi region.
According to the website, Namaye blamed increased cases of suicide in the country on depression caused by the impact of Covid 19 and other challenges.
Other districts with many suicide cases are; Tororo, Nakaseke, Gulu, Mbale, Mpigi, Kakumiro, Adjuman, Koboko, Kumi among others.
Police has reported that over 275 suicide cases have so far been registered during the Covid-19 lock down.
Police statistics indicates that suuicide cases have increased by 20% in 2019 compared to cases recorded last year in the same period.
