Former chief justice of the republic of Uganda and one of the framers of the 1995 constitution, Prof George William Kanyeihamba has alleged that his land has been taken by mafias in the president’s office.
Prof Kanyeihba was talking to the state Minister for lands Sam Mayanja who paid a courtesy visit to him on Tuesday.
During the visitation, Kanyeimba said an official from the office of the presidential adviser on veteran affairs is accused of taking a bribe from him to evict encroachers on his land
The contested land is a 40 acres land in Lutembe Dewe, Wakiso district.
“He came and asked me for Sh 1m to evict encroachers on my land in Entebbe. Fortunately, I had just returned from the bank and I gave him the money when he reached his group they started demanding for more. Previously, when I felt sick he brought a document for me to sign and I signed out of my faculties. When I became conscious, I realized it was inconsistent,” he said
The Prof claims that the police failed to evict people who allegedly encroached on his 40 acres in Lutembe Dewe, Wakiso district.
He accused former Entebbe municipal mayor for grabbing his land.
Minister Mayanja pledged to investigate the matter and have the culprits picked and brought to book.
