Police in Kabale is investigating circumstances under which a 36-year-old woman has been killed by her husband.
The deceased is identified as Phiona Asiimwe, a resident of Kacerere B cell, Ryakarimira town council in Kabale district.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson, Elly Maate who confirmed to the reports said on August 8th at around 8PM, Wilber Sigirenda, 48 (husband to the deceased) used a sharp panga to cut on the neck of Asiimwe (his wife) whom he murdered.
“The suspect reached home, found the victim who is his second wife in the house and children already asleep. He forceful opened the door, attacked and cut her neck. She died instantly,” Maate said.
Sigirenda (the suspect) after commiting the crime allegedly took poison in an attempt suicide but was immediately rescued by police which had gone yo arrest him.
Parrots UG has learned that Sigirenda is admitted at Rubaya Health Centre IV in unconscious state and police investigations are ongoing.
