Police in Ntungamo have arrested Mwesigwa Rukutaana, the State Minister Gender Labour and Social Development on allegations inciting violence.
Rukutaana wasarrested with his three escorts following a gun shooting incidence Ruhama Ntungamo district in which one person was injured and the vehicle in which he was traveling in damaged.
ACP Polly Namaye, the Deputy Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest news stating that the injured is being hospitalized while suspects are under detention.
There is a circulating video on social media showing minister Rukutana grabbing an AK47gun riffle which he allegedly used to shot at a group of people traveling in a Toyota Rav4 Registration number UAQ 840X. One person was injured and rushed to hospital in critical conditions while the car wind screens were damaged. These happened in Ruhama Ntungamo.
Rukutaana is among the top government officials who lost elections in yesterday’s NRM primaries. Naome Kabashariira for Rushenyi county MP which he (Rukutaana) is an incumbent.
Namaye has told reports that detained minister Rukutaana and his three co accused are facing three charges of; inciting violence, attempted murder by shooting and malicious damages.
She didn’t however indulge into the details of the escorts, detention place for the suspects.
