The ruling NRM bigwigs have pitched camp in Kasese district to drum up support for their NRM candidate for Busongora South County by election as they intensify momentum to retain the seat.
Among the top bigwigs who have joined the camp are the NRM Party Vice Chairperson for Western Region, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi and Secretary General, Rt.Hon. Richard Todwong.
The duo has this afternoon arrived at Muhokya primary school playground, Muhokya Town Council in Kasese District
where they are set to address the Busongora South NRM conference.
They were received by Hon. Emmanuel Dombo, Director for communication and public Relations and the party flagbearer, Hon. Thembo Gideon Mujungu among other leaders.
According to the NRM, the purpose of this conference is to gather issues of concern from local leadership and as well address them.
In addition, the leaders are expected to draw a clear and harmonized strategies on how to enhance mobilization of the party’s flagbearer ahead of the by election.
The parliamentary seat for Busongora South County fell vacant following court ruling that ordered for a by-election.
Among other senior party officials present include the Kasese NRM District chairperson Amb. Dr Crispus Kiyonga, Maj (Rtd) Okwir Rabwoni, Director Youth and institutions, area MPs among others
Paul Bukenya, the acting EC spokesperson says that polling and tallying of votes in Busongora South County is scheduled for 18
Mujungu will face off other candidates from other parties such as Aloysius Kighema (FDC) and Hon. Jackson Mbajju (NUP) among other independent candidates awaiting for official nominations by the Electoral Commission in Kasese.
