Namayingo: The police in Namayingo is having in custody, a notorious suspect alleged to be behind the many armed robberies and related acts of criminality in the area.
According to the Busoga region police spokesperson, ASP James Mubi, the suspect whose names were not disclosed for security reasons was actively involved with other suspects who are still being sought.
Police reported that between December 24, 2020 and December30, 2020, the gang attacked and burnt several homes for residents in the areas of Namayingo. They (the gang) were also behind the attempted murder of Nabwire Lucy, a 35 year old, peasant after she was shot in the left leg and rushed to hospital.
Mubi said police also recovered an AK47 gun which the gang was using to terrorize residents. He added that the recovery and arrest will help in restoration of peace in the district.
“We believe the recovery of the gun and the arrest of the suspect will restore peace and security in the district.”
He hailed the residents – police relations that lead to the recovery of the gun.
“We want to thank the community for their level of cooperation in sharing information that led to the recovery of the gun.” ASP James Mubi, Busoga East Region Pro said.
