In a tragic turn of events, Mubiru Richard lost his life yesterday when he was shot in the head by police during a land eviction operation. The incident occurred as tensions escalated between residents and law enforcement officials over disputed land in the areas of Acholi Quarters and Kinawataka.

According to police, the disputed land belongs to the police barracks, and they were carrying out evictions to reclaim it. However, residents vehemently argue that the police are encroaching on their rightful property beyond the boundaries of the barracks. Despite repeated pleas from the community, authorities have refused to open the boundaries for verification.

Eyewitnesses claim that chaos erupted during the eviction process, with residents protesting against what they perceive as an unjust intrusion onto their land. As tensions escalated, shots were fired by police officers, tragically resulting in the death of Mubiru Richard.

The deceased’s family and community members are now demanding justice for Richard’s untimely demise. They argue that his death highlights the need for a fair resolution to the ongoing land dispute. The lack of clarity regarding boundary lines has only fueled resentment and frustration among residents.

Local leaders have called for an immediate investigation into the incident, urging authorities to hold those responsible accountable for their actions. They emphasize that a peaceful resolution must be reached to prevent further loss of life and maintain harmony within the community.

The Acholi Quarters and Kinawataka areas have long been plagued by land disputes, causing significant unrest among residents. This recent tragedy has only exacerbated tensions and highlighted the urgent need for a comprehensive solution.

Efforts are underway to engage all parties involved in dialogue and mediation sessions to find a mutually agreeable resolution. It is hoped that these discussions will lead to a clear demarcation of boundaries and an end to the conflict.

As the investigation into Mubiru Richard’s death continues, it serves as a stark reminder of the consequences that can arise from unresolved land disputes. The incident underscores the importance of transparent and fair processes in determining land ownership, ensuring the protection of lives and property.
