A father in Rukungiri district is on run after he allegedly dumped his newly born baby in a pit latrine.
The incident occured today (January 9) in the morning in Kyahi village, Karuhembe, Kebisoni sub-county, Rukungiri district.
It is alleged that the husband’s family denied pregnancy and expelled the couple from their home prompting the husband to dump the baby in a latrine.
John Bosco Mbyemire, the area LC1 chairperson said concerns raised after residents saw a mother moving without her baby. She was interrogated and admitted that it’s her husband, a one Katone who knows whereabouts of the baby.
Mbyemire noted that when authorities visited the home, they found out that the child had been discarded into a pit latrine.
Further reports indicate that family members were accusing the husband of tending to pregnancy that is not his.
The suspect took on heels to avoid arrest and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing.
