A soldier attached to the Special Forces Command (SFC) has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing four family members in Namatale village, Mayuge District.
According to Major Jimmy Omara, the SFC spokesperson, Pte Birivumbuka Herbertson Robert escaped from his workplace on June 29, 2024, and went on a rampage, shooting four close family members dead and injuring others.
The soldier attempted to return to his unit to avoid suspicion, but his absence had already been detected, and he was arrested upon his return.
Major Omara urged the people of Namatale to cooperate with investigators to ensure the suspect faces justice. The soldier is currently detained at the SFC facility, awaiting trial.
The motive behind the shooting is yet to be established, and the investigation is ongoing.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and residents are calling for swift justice to be served.
