Police in Sheema district southwest Uganda has launched a manhunt for a shamba boy who allegedly killed his female boss and ran away with some household properties.
Imelda Mwigarire, 65, was found dead in a pool of blood inside her kitchen on Thursday January 18, in her home.
According to reports, the suspect identified as Muzafaru Mutebi had just started his work as a casual labourer in the home of Mwigarire three days before the stressful incident.
It is alleged that the suspect used an axe to hit the deceased in the head killing her instantly. He then padlocked the body in the kitchen with two padlocks.
SP Martial Tumusiime, the greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson said the incident occured in Kimondo II village, Kitagata Town Council Sheema district.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on Thursday morning, the deceased and the suspect could not be seen while the cows were moaning with no one attending to them which raised suspicions from concerned neighbours who telephoned a husband to the deceased who works in Kasese town to tell him about the incident.
The matter was reported to Kitagata Police station which quickly responded to visit the scene of the crime meanwhile as the husband made his way to home.
“When our officers arrived, the scene was locked with two padlocks but we managed to break into the kitchen. Unfortunately, Mwigarire was found lying dead in a pool of blood,” Tumusiime said.
John Rwomushana, 70, husband to the deceased said the suspect made away with household properties such as Television set, home theater.
The deceased body was conveyed to Kitagata HCIV for a postmortem meanwhile as investigations and a search for the suspect are ongoing
