A graduand and his father have died in a road accident in Badaka on their way to attend a graduation ceremony at UCU Mukono
Aaron Mushengyezi, the vice chancellor has identified the deceased graduand as Alex Gidudu Khauka, 24yrs while the Dad, 50yrs has not yet been identified.
According to police, the accident occured today (Tuesday 29th July, 2022) at around 0500hrs at a place called Kamonkoli village along Mbale—Tirinyi road.
The accident involved motor vehicle registration number UAY 740k (Toyota Noah) that rammed into a stationary broken down motor vehicle registration number UAS 427P (Sino truck), killing one on spot.
Police says the graduand died on spot while his Dad died after arriving at Mbale referral hospital where they were rushed.
Police further identified the deceased as residents of Nasasa village, Busambe parish, Bumbobi sub-county in Mbale district.
The duo was travelling to Uganda Christian University main campus in Mukono for a gradation ceremony.
Mushengyezi in his eulogy noted that Gidudu was to graduate with Diploma in Information Technology at the university’s 23rd graduation ceremony.
Other injured persons been identified as
Mukoya Babra aged 25 years and Wegosasa Ketty, 40, both admitted at Mbale regional referral hospital.
Police from Budaka Central Police Station arrived at the scene of the crime and the dead bodies have been conveyed to Mbale city mortuary for a postmortem examination.
