Yet to confirm reports indicate that two people have died after a suspected bomb explosion rocked Digida pork joint in Komamboga, Kampala.
According to reports, a girl, only Identified as Emily, died on the spot. And another victim, a male adult, died on the way to the hospital, while scores have been reported injured in the accident.
Moments later, the Police Spokesperson CP Fred Enanga in a statement confirmed to the Explosion reports but did not admit nor deny the death reports.
According to a tatement, the Explosions that occured on Saturday at Digida pork joint at around 9PM, left one person fatally injured and Seven others seriously injured.
“The police from KMP has responded to a serious blast which occured on the 23.10.2021, at around 9PM , at Digida pork joint Komamboga Kawempe Division, Kampala.
One person has been fatally wounded and 7 others rushed to Mulago National Referral hospital with serios injuries.” CP Enanga said in a statement.
Security has further cordoned the scene and police bomb squad has been called to assess the explosives.
“The scene has been cordoned off, and our joint task team from the bomb squad called to thoroughly document the scene, to help determine whether the explosions arose out of an intentional act or not.” CP Enanga added.
He has appealed to the members of the public to remain calm as security establishes the circumstances of the attacks.
“We ask the public to remain calm, as we establish the true circumstances sorrounding the incident.
Any new developments will be communicated,” he appealed.
The explosion comes weeks after UK government served warnings to the security teams over a pending terror attack in the country.
