Uganda’s inflation has been registered at 2.4 percent this month from 2.7 percent the previous month.
This was due to the Core Inflation registered at 2.0% in October 2023 compared to 2.4% for September 2023
The slowdown in the annual inflation is attributed to reduction in prices of maize flour, sugar, rice and silver fish, locally known as mukene according to principal statistician at the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Edgar Niyimpa .
However, Petrol, Diesel, Electricity and water charges inflation increased.
Monthly, the headline Inflation for October 2023 declined to 0.6% from 0.7% recorded in September 2023. Monthly Core inflation stayed at 0.3%, as was in September 2023.

Tomatoes, Irish potatoes, Beans, water and Firewood inflation rose in October, compared to September 2023 while Matooke inflation slowed to 23.3% from 26.5% of Sept 2023
FortPortal registered the highest inflation at 4.7% followed by Jinja (3.9%) and the least was in Mbale (1.6%)
On the other hand ,the Construction Sector Inflation increased by 0.2% in the month of September 2023 compared to the same rate registered in August 2023.
Notably, Fuel, Lime, Nails, Bolts inflation increased. Clay bricks, Sand and eucalyptus props inflation decreased.
Specialized construction activities, Civil engineering works, Aggregate, Iron and Lime inflation increased while construction of buildings inflation was maintained for both months.
