The police in Kampala are holding in detention an adult woman on allegations of stealing a laptop from a shop attendant at Kooki Towers in city Kampala.
The suspect has been identified as Shamim Namutebi, a resident of Zzana Makindye Ssabagabo in Wakiso district.
Its is alleged that today morning Namutebi together with her friend, Aisha Nantale went to a shop at Kooki Towers in Kampala to buy a laptop. As they bargained on the prices, Nantale picked a laptop and went away with it without the attendant’s notice.
As soon as the attendant who was behind the counter noticed that one of the ladies and a laptop were missing, he locked Namutebi in the shop and rung the police about the matter.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson said police responded on time and arrested Namutebi while another suspect is on a run.
According to Onyango, the stolen laptop is a brand new Dello type estimated at Ushs 1.2 millions.
He appealed to whoever knows Aisha Nantale’s whereabouts (a suspect on the run) to help police with the information.
Namutebi is currently detained at Central Police Station Kampala to help police in investigations.
