A 55-year-old woman has been killed in Mitooma district after her goats destroyed a neighbor’s garden.
Gabikwenda Dinah, a residents of Iraramira II village, Iraramira Parish, Kiyanga Sub County in Mitooma district was on Saturday 20th April, 2024 attacked and severely cut by the suspect, Charles Byaruhanga who accused her of failing to keep her animals from frequently destroying his food crops.
Its alleged that the suspect had earlier told the area authority that the deceased should stop destroying his gardens lest something bad would happen to her which she was warned about.
Preliminary investigations revealed tha the victim was rushed to Kampala International University teaching hospital for treatment thereafter she was referred to Mbarara Referral Hospital where she breathed her last on April 25.
The Greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson SSP Martial Tumusiime condemned the incident and confirmed to reports Byaruhanga’s arrest.
“Inquiries were instituted vide SD Ref 03/20/04/2024 of Iraramira Police post, PF3 form issued and retrieved as the scene was visited and documented by SOCO then PF 48A and B issued for postmortem. And the suspect who was a neighbour to the deceased is now in custody as police inquiries continue,” Martial said.
