IBANDA. Police in Ibanda is investigating circumstances under which a merciless woman stabbed to death a 4-year-old child over firewood.
The suspect identified by surname, Nyakato is a resident of Kanaama Village, Rwenshambya Parish Keihangara sub county Ibanda district.
It is alleged that the suspect first had a quarrel with her biological sister a one Rosemary Kamuri over use of firewood and a fight erupted in the evening.
Eye witnesses says Kamuri escaped for her dear life leaving behind her 4-yr-old daughter, Alice Kobusingye and merciless Nyakato picked a knife and stabbed the child killing her instantly.
The Rwizi region police spokesperson, Samson Kasasira confirmed to reports saying the suspect was apprehended by residents who handed her over to police where she is currently being held.
By publication time, the deceased body had been taken to Ruhoko Health Center III for a postmortem awaiting for funeral.
A murder case was recorded at Ibanda district police station under reference no. CRB146/2021 as investigations into the matter continues.
