The police at Katwe Kampala are probing circumstances underwhich a senior six student at Kitebi SSS – Bunamwaya committed suicide after she was allegedly abused by her teacher.
Bright Namusoke, 20, on Wednesday went bavk home angry and told her relatives that a teacher at school who she didn’t disclose had abused her.
However, the relatives did not take it as serious and at about 4pm, her body was discovered hanging on a rope in one of the rooms at their home in Ngobe Zone, Bunamwaya Division, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality in Wakiso District.
The Kampala metropolitan police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said in a statement that police responded to the distress call by the relatives and recovered relevant statements to help with the investigations.
“Several relevant statements have been recorded to help with the investigations,” Owoyesigyire said
He added that relatives informed police that the deceased had a history of mental illness.
The relatives further told police detectives that Namusoke has been on treatments for the illnesses but would often reoccurre
The deceased’s body was then conveyed to city mortuary at Mulago for post mortem.”
