The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere has called upon members of the clergy and the faithful to join the Archdiocese in Triduum prayers following reports of burglary and theft at Nswansere junior seminary on Monday

On Tuesday, police reported that there was a raid at Nswansere Junior seminary school in Muduma Sub-county in Mpigi District around 3 am on Monday.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, unknown assailants cut the barbed wires to break into the school stealing various items including a Television set, mobile phones, cash, a laptop, and the church Tabernacle.

Two priests Fr. Kyeyune Godfrey, the school’s Vice Rector and Fr. Emmanuel Mukukule were beaten and injured during the raid. They were rushed to Lubaga hospital but are out of danger according to the Archdiocese administration.

The assailants also robbed Rev. Fr. John Bosco Kigundu and Bro. John Bosco Mwasa of cash and mobile phones.

“The Wakiso Police team visited the scene to collect evidence. Statements were recorded from relevant witnesses and an exhibit of a grey bag containing coins amounting to four thousand shillings was recovered a few meters from the scene,” Owoyesigyire said.

He added that the robbers are still at large and police are currently conducting inquiries to apprehend them.

“Because of this act of violation, the Archbishop summons all people of God into a Triduum of prayer for an act of reparation. These three days will begin on Tuesday 21st March to Thursday 23rd March, 2023,” read a statement by Fr. Pius Male Ssentumbwe, the Archdiocese chancellor.

During the Triduum, the church will be praying for healing, Repetence and restitution of God’s glory. The clergy have been asked to set aside an hour for the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during these three days of prayers

Triduum is a period of three days prayers usually proceeding the Roman Catholic feast of Paschal also known as the Easter Triduum. The Triduum begins on Maundy Thursday upto the Easter Vigil. The church may however call for a special Triduum in case of any urgent need for the act of reparation in the church.
