Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara yesterday flagged off Seth Akampa, a law student, to represent the university and the national team at the upcoming FISU Cross Country Championship in Oman.

The university’s acting Vice-Chancellor, Assoc. Prof. Gershom Atukunda, expressed pride in Akampa’s selection and encouraged him to use sports to expand his horizons and pursue his goals. Akampa, from Rukiga district, is determined to work hard and bring home a medal for Uganda.

The World University Championship Cross Country, dating back to 1968, is a prestigious event that attracts athletes from around the world. Prof. Gershom Atukunda, a renowned sports mentor and professor of physical education, expressed immense pride in Akampa’s selection for the upcoming World University Championship Cross Country representing Uganda. With his experience and knowledge of sports, Prof. Atukunda highlighted the importance of this opportunity for Akampa to showcase his athletic abilities and broaden his perspective.

Akampa, a talented athlete from Rukiga, Uganda, is driven by determination and a relentless work ethic. He aims for excellence and the glory of his nation. With dedication and a burning desire to succeed, he sees this championship as a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal of winning a medal for Uganda.

Akampa said he is extremely happy for being selected among the four students in the whole country and pledged to come back home with a medal.

The World University Championship Cross Country, a prestigious event since 1968, brings together top-tier athletes from all over the world. It tests physical prowess and celebrates the power of sports to unite individuals from diverse backgrounds.

As the world focuses on this highly anticipated event, Akampa prepares to represent his country on an international stage. Pitted against top athletes from different continents, his passion fuels his training as he pushes his limits and hones his skills. With the support of Prof. Atukunda and the athletics community, Akampa is confident that his determination and training will position him favorably among his competitors.

In addition to personal achievement, Akampa feels a responsibility to inspire and uplift aspiring athletes within his community and across the nation. He hopes his journey will show that perseverance and dedication lead to attainable goals.

With each passing day, excitement builds as the World University Championship Cross Country approaches. Akampa, fueled by dreams and supported by his system, eagerly awaits the moment to represent his country, immerse himself in the championship’s electrifying atmosphere, and make his mark on the world stage of athletics.
