Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara yesterday flagged off Seth Akampa, a law student, to represent the university and the national team at the upcoming FISU Cross Country Championship in Oman.
The university’s acting Vice-Chancellor, Assoc. Prof. Gershom Atukunda, expressed pride in Akampa’s selection and encouraged him to use sports to expand his horizons and pursue his goals. Akampa, from Rukiga district, is determined to work hard and bring home a medal for Uganda.
The World University Championship Cross Country, dating back to 1968, is a prestigious event that attracts athletes from around the world. Prof. Gershom Atukunda, a renowned sports mentor and professor of physical education, expressed immense pride in Akampa’s selection for the upcoming World University Championship Cross Country representing Uganda. Akampa said he is extremely happy for being selected among the four students in the whole country and pledged to come back home with a medal.
