Police in Bushenyi district have recovered deadly explosive weapons after a shocking explosion that fatally injured one person.
On Wednesday evening, bomb-like explosion blasted in Kyamagambo village, Rutooma Ward, Rwentuha Town Council in Bushenyi District.
One resident identified as Abraham Ruhesi was fatally injured by the fragments of the explosives.
It is alleged, that the explosion occured while Ruhesi was clearing his farm land for bee keeping. He allegedly stepped on device that exploded causing him injuries in stomach and chest.
Benson Barekye, the LC1 chairperson for Kyamagambo village says police from Rwentuha was called in, sealed off the scene and later established that the explosion was from an abandoned grenade.
The greater Bushenyi police mouthpiece Marshal Tumusiime confirmed to the explosion stating that several other deadly devices have been recovered from the scene
“We found another grenade, two bullets and fragments. We have taken full charge of the place as we are waiting for experts for further management.” ASP Tumusiime said
The victim was rushed to Kampala International University teaching hospital Ishaka as investigations into the matter are ongoing
