A senior Catholic priest from Kabale Diocese, Rev. Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda, has raised concern over what he describes as increasing inhumane actions by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his son. In a strong statement, Fr. Batanyenda warned Ugandans against remaining silent in the face of what he called troubling developments.
Rev. Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda, a vocal critic of the current government, has once again spoken out, this time expressing deep concern over President Museveni and his son’s leadership direction. In a message shared widely, the priest urged Ugandans to pay close attention to recent remarks made by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, especially on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
“Every Ugandan of sound mind should be very worried and concerned about how inhumane Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and now his potential terrible son have become especially if you have been following his tweets on X social media. We shouldn’t afford to be silent, neutral, and cowards on these matters.” Fr. Gaetano posted on his Facebook page.
The outspoken priest has long been a critic of what he sees as mismanagement and oppression under the current regime. His latest remarks come amidst growing concerns over political succession and governance in Uganda.
While Fr. Batanyenda’s statement has sparked debate, there has been no official response from the government or Gen. Muhoozi regarding his concerns.
