Famdec construction company has threatened to sue Kabale district local government due to unpaid debt of UGX 105,424,353 for the construction of Ryakarimira town council administration block and multi-purpose council hall
Kabale district local government signed a memorandum of Understanding with Famdec construction company in October 2021,for the Ryakarimira town council administration block and multi-purpose council hall. The unspecified money for the construction of the town council administration block and multi-purpose council hall was released in the F/Y 2020/2021 budget and was deposited to the town council account.
The Kabale district resident Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma says that the money which the company is demanding was used by the former Ryakarimira town clerk Alex Ampaire who is currently on the run.
According to Nyakahuma, on 30th September 2022 district officials held a meeting with Ampaire and agreed that he would return the money in question within two weeks but Ampaire went on run up since then.
Nyakahuma is worried that once the district is sued, it is going to incur more money in the case and lead to poor planning of activities in the district.
Now, Nyakahuma is calling upon the public to liaise with police to have Ampaire arrested and squeeze him to cough the money in question and also pay the construction company.
