Yesterday Tuesday April 5th, 2020 social media platforms were awashed with the news of the release of Kawala’s self styled Pastor Yiga after court granted him bail.
The news that came with a sigh to the Revival Church congregators highly created doubts in the hearts of many when a reknown city herbalist also a Sex Counselor Kojja Kimboowa stood surety of a Spiritual Pastor known of performing divine miracles.
Self proclaimed Abizaayo real names Pastor Augustine Yiga the owner of Revival Christian Church Kawaala was granted bail by Rubaga grade 1 magistrate Timothy Lumunye on Sh2bn non cash bond.
Yiga was helped by his two surelities Richard Kimbowa commonly known as Kojja Kimbowa a common herbalist dealer and Benson Kato a business man.
It should be noted that Yiga through his lawyer Wilberforce Kayiwa requested for bail claiming that his client has diabetes but the court kept a deaf ear.
It’s alleged that on March 27 th 2020,Yiga while at his church in Kawaala,he told different reporters from different media houses that the deadly novel pandemic Corona virus does not exist in Uganda and over the black man’s continent as well a statement that sent him to Kitalya government prison.
Prior to hisarrest, Dr Diana Atwine, the PS Ministry of Health posted on her Twitter handle condemning the pastor over his utterances likely to mislead the public on corona virus. She appealed to Uganda Communications Commission the regulatory body to cramp on the Pastor and his ABSTV something which many alleges fueled his arrest.
The court has instructed Yiga to follow all the directives in line with the prevention of Covid 19.
He will return to court on the 25th of June 2020.
