KABALE
A driver is currently on run after knocking two people dead in Kabaraga corner in Kabale district.
The suspect yet to identify allegedly over ran on Davis Arinaitwe, 30, a boda boda rider and resident of Kabatogote cell Kyanamira sub county Kabale district, and John Mucunguzi 30, also boda boda rider and resident of Mugandara cell Kyanamira sub county Kabale district, who was passenger on the involved motor cycle.
The accident occurred today December 17, at around 1400hrs at Kabaraga along Kabale Mbarara highway with in Kabale District.
The suspect was driving a motor vehicle registration number UAU 097W Toyota Premio White in colour, according to the Kigozi region police spokesperson, ASP Elly Mate.
“It’s alleged that motor vehicle reg.No.UAU 097N Toyota premio was coming from Mbarara side heading towards Kabale side, when its driver who is on the run was on phone and driving while using a wrong lane and as he reached Kabaraga, he ended up colliding head on with Motor Cycle reg.No.UFX 791S Bajaj boxer which was coming from Kabale going to Mbarara side hence leaving both the rider and passenger dead on spot,” he explained.
Maate said police rushed to the scene, picked up the bodies and conveyed them to Kabale regional referral hospital.
“Police was notified, scene was visited by ASP Mucunguzi Wilson OC Traffic Kabale assisted by No.42899cpl Kambale Isaac, bodies were taken to Kabale Regional Referral hospital for postmortem. Involved motor vehicles parked at Kabale police yard pending I.O.V inspection,” Maate said
