A tragic flash flood has struck Kasese Municipality, affecting at least four villages in Nyamwamba Division. The disaster has left a trail of destruction, with over 250 households submerged and an estimated 1000 households affected.

According to reports, one woman is feared to have drowned in the floodwaters, and a search operation is underway to locate missing individuals. The Response Action Teams and the District Disaster Management Committee are conducting a rapid assessment to provide a detailed situational report.

The flash floods were triggered by the bursting of River Nyamwamba’s banks following a heavy downpour earlier today. The Village Task Force, comprising community responders, is working closely with the authorities to respond to the emergency.

The affected villages are struggling to cope with the aftermath of the disaster, with many residents displaced and in need of assistance. The authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

This devastating flood highlights the need for improved disaster preparedness and mitigation measures in the region. As the situation continues to unfold, further updates and support will be provided to those affected.
