Police In Bundibugyo is holding 18 professionals for defying presidential directives on corona virus.
According to ASP Vicent Twesigye, the Rwenzoribregion Police Spokesperson on Saturday 26th June 2020, the suspects were found drinking alcohol and playing gambling games at Vision Pub in Nyahuka Town Council , Bundibugyo district.
“Our police carried out an operation in and around Vision pub in Nyahuka Town Council, Bundibugyo district and apprehended 18 persons who were defying the Presidential directives on Covid-19,” ASP Twesigye said.
These include an ambulance driver as well as professionals; lawyers, Inspector of Schools, Human Resource Officers, Veterinary Officer, Head Teacher, Physical Planner, Teachers, and Nursing Officers.
They were found with exhibits like gambling cards and various brands of alcohol.
He added that the suspects have been charged with doing acts likely to spread an infectious disease – coronavirus.
He warned that an operation will continue to other areas in the district.
