The Bushenyi district Woman member of parliament, Annet Katusiime Mugisha has commended the long serving Bumbaire politician the late Klecensio Katahweire for his contribution development of the country.
Katusiime was speaking as a Chief mourner at the burial ceremony of the former LC2 chairperson of Numba parish, Katahweire in Numba II village, Bumbaire sub-county, Bushenyi district. She hailed him for supporting the education of the girl-child and fostering government’s programs to improve household income such as transitioning from subsidiary agriculture to commercial farming.
The deceased who among other roles served as the Numba parish chairperson in Bumbaire sub-county for over three decades died at the age of 86, he died of alleged internal organs cancer according to the family.
He was also a former catechist in the Roman Catholic Church who dedicated his life to serving both the church and the local government. He together with other Christians notably Mzee Phillip Kaitamaka and Mzee Kapiira founded St. Peter’s Numba Catholic Center. Katahweire was also actively involved in spiritual movements such as the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Church Choir in Kashekuuro catholic parish and a renown NRM cadre.
Katusiime who applauded the late Katahweire’s trustworthiness, respectfulness and disclosed plans to construct a feeder road in honor of his contributions to Numba parish.
During celebration of the funeral mass, the main celebrant Rev. Fr. Adrian Benywanira, Parish Priest of Kashekuuro parish shared touching anecdotes about Katahweire’s kindness and humility. He urged the community to follow his example of faith and integrity in serving both the church, nature and humanity.
The late Katahwaire has left behind five children, 24 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. May His Soul Rest In Peace.
