Police in Rukiga district have started to investigate circumstances under which a male adult killed his aunt and thereafter committed suicide.
The incident happened in Nyamihanga village, Nyakasiru parish in Bukinda sub county, Rukiga district.
Information established by Parrots UG indicates that on the night of Friday at around 10PM, Furaha Karuhanga while in Nyamihanga cell broke into the house of Savius Bakahebwa, 49 (his aunt) attacked and cut on the fore head, in the face and both arms using a sharp machete- panga.
Karuhanga thereafter left the aunt unconscious and took on heels to the nearby farm, climbed an eucalyptus tree and hanged himself.
A resident who talked to this reporter revealed that the two have had unsettled land disputes, which could be allegedly the cause of the incidents.
The Kigezi regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate says police was notified about the matter and visited both scenes.
He added that the bodies of the deceased were taken for postmortems.
A case of murder by cutting has been registered at Rukiga Police station on Reference number CRB 235/2021
