PARROTS UG | SPORTS ANALYSIS:
Uganda premier League reigning champions Express FC (The Red Eagles) will be back in the struggle for three points against Sudanese giants Al Merrick sports club in a CAF champions League preliminary stage.
The game will be played on Friday (today) at exactly 4:00pm EAT at St Mary’s stadium kitende behind closed doors(no fans allowed).
Uganda’s Express FC will be playing at this very stage for the first time in 24years since their last encounter against Zimbabwe’s Caps United in 1997 where Express lost 7-6 on aggregate.
Information reaching our news desk indicates that the Red Eagles gaffer Wasswa Bbosa will not be on the touchline as his boys make the continental appearance.
This is because his qualifications do not meet the CAF standards at this very stage. Bbosa holds a CAF B license, and CAF’s standard is of a ‘CAF A’ license or its equivalent (UEFA Pro License).
Roumer has it that express has for this case seeked the services of veteran coach Simon Peter Kirumira, a ‘CAF A’ licensed coach on a ceremonial basis.
Kirumira is a former coach at Sadolin-Paint FC now Kansai Plascon and chairman of the Uganda Football Coaches Association (UFCA).
