Security operatives have on Monday re-arrested the Kawempe North Member of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya aka Mr. Updates moments after court granted him bail.
Ssegirinya has been on remand to Kigo prison early this month on counts of murder, of attempted murder and terrorism in connection with the recent panga killings in Masaka region. He was remanded alongside the Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana who was released on Thursday 23 September, 2020 and later re-arrested.
According to the legislators lawyer, Shamim Malende, Ssegirinya was today forced out of her vehicle registration number UBK 962 E and whisked to unknown detention.
“Hon. Ssegirinya pulled out of my vehicle as we exit Kigo prison and taken to unknown detention by security operatives clad in black attired,” Malende said.
The rearrest of Ssegirinya follow clarion by police on the rearrest of his colleague Allan Ssewanyana.
On Monday, police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga disclosed to the media that MP Ssewanyana was re-arrested by security agencies on fresh charges of treason but did not give details of his whereabouts.
Its uncertain whether Ssegirinya has been rearrested on similar charges.
