Members of parliament have been urged to vote for the UPC candidate, Fred Ebil for East African Legislative Assembly (EaLA) seat.
“We request all members of the 11th parliament to support and vote for Hon. Fred Ebil as one of the EALA MPs for 2022/27,” UPC urged.
This call has been made by the party spokesperson Sharon Arach Oyat at a party press conference at Uganda House in Kampala on Wednesday.
She also appealed to legislators from other political parties to vote for the UPC candidate stating that he is potential to champion dialogue, constructive engagement as well as putting the country first.

At least 28 candidates were nominated for EALA race, according to records from the office of clerk to parliament. These include six incumbents of the NRM, 19 independent candidates while parties like FDC, JEMA, UPC and DP have one candidate each.
Parliament is conducting a verification exercise for all the candidates today and the approved names will be forwarded to the speaker of parliament for an election.
Polling for EALA election is scheduled on September 29 and only nine successful candidates shall be declared winners to represent Uganda in the Arusha parliament. These will constitute of six MPs from the NRM, and the three from opposition parties, independents and special interest groups.
