Patriots have been urged to appreciate their educational opportunities while recognizing their potentials to becoming important contributors of this country.
Brenda Tibamwenda the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation at the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC), made the call during the grand opening of a one week-long patriotism training course that is underway at Ntare School in Mbarara City.
Tibamwenda underlined the importance of pursuing dreams stating that they should not allow fleeting gains to distract them from their objectives.
“When you have focus, you can do what people think you can’t do but also what is your dream, can we determine our dreams today as patriots and they will only happen if we work on our character as we pray to God.” She said
Tibamwenda also told the patriots that Patriotism is all about doing the right thing at the place and with the right people urging them that the program gives them a call to make the right choices in life.
She guided that as young people, they should always fight hard to put life in a streamline order because it touches badly every time they fail to do so.
“As patriots, I don’t see why you should throw away your lives for wrong doings like sex and drug addictions because once you get pregnant while you are still at school is throwing away three years of your life as you raise a child,” Tibamwenda added.
Tibamwenda further encouraged the students to cherish hard work and high level discipline as the only shortcut to success.
She said “ I encourage you to remain humble, work hard so that you pay your parents in the right way because there is no joy to a parent when children turn into disappointments.”
On his part, Soul Rwampororo, the Head teacher of Ntare, the host school expressed gratitude to the Patriotism Secretariat for taking the Patriotism training course to schools of Greater Mbarara highlighting that it came at the right time when they needed it most.
“I would like to thank the Commissioner of Patriotism Seku for thinking about Greater Mbarara in a unique way by bringing the patriotism training to Ntare and the entire region, I believe the training is not going to leave our students the same way.” said Rwampororo.
By press time, over 2700 students from more than 50 schools have enrolled in the course with additional students expected to join
In his wisdom, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the President of the Republic of Uganda established the Patriotism Secretariat in 2009 so that the youth enjoys an ideological dose so that they develop into resourceful, responsible, disciplined and resilient Citizens who are ready to defend and transform their nation.
