The police in greater Masaka had identified the casualties in last night’s accident involving Perfect Bus and a lorry truck along Mbarara – Masaka Road

Earlier this day, Parrots Media reported an accident story which occured at Nkoko stage, Mudala – Katovu sub county in LWENGO district.

The accident involved two vehicles namely a Bus registration number UBF052G King long bus blue in colour belonging to perfect bus company driven by unidentified driver and unknown motor vehicle that was transporting Matooke from Mbarara to Kampala side.

Two people both passengers in the bus died on the spot. They are Musinguzi Shimon, 28, a resident of Rukungiri district and businessman dealing in boutique business and Erist John witington, 1yr and 8 months baby.

Police also managed to identify the 17 victims who sustained injuries in this accident. They are Ediga Begumisa,M/a 32 yrs old Munyankole by tribe,R/O Ntungamo,Nisiima moreen F/a 28yrs old Munyankole by tribe,R/O Rukungiri,Turyamureba Dan M/a 36 yrs old R/O Kibale,Pale Mary F/a 27 yr old Munyankole by tribe (mother to deceased juvenile),Nabukenya Olivia F/a 31yrs old Mukiga by tribe,Luyimbazi Frank, M/a 32yrs old Mufumbira by tribe,Busingye Emmanuel M/a 37yrs old Mukiga by tribe R/O Kanungu, Muhereza Godfrey M/a 43yrs old, R/O rwampara,Shafik zubair M/a 28 yrs old R/O Kanungu,Ntasobya Isaac M/a 30 yrs old R/O kanungu ,Mugabi Nowel, M/a 52 yrs old, R/O Rukungiri,Rutara Moses, M/a 66 yrs old R/O kanungu,Kyogabirwe Jackline, F/a 38 yrs old R/O Kanungu, Origaruraho Medius ,F/a 49 yrs old,R/O Kanungu, Igumba Edison, M/a 35 yrs old R/O Kanungu, Kakuru charity F/a 30 yrs old R/O Kanungu, Namakiika Lillian, F/a 25 yrs old R/O Wakiso

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the lorry truck who was on the left lane (from Mbarara to Masaka) displayed full lights and he immediately crossed to the right lane where the bus driver was. The driver of the bus in the process of avoiding head on collusion lost control and went off the road and over turned in the valley hence killing two passengers on spot and injuring 17 passengers

The victims we’re rushed to Lyatonde hospital while bodies were taken to Lyatonde mortuary pending postmortem

By press time, the motor vehicle was still at the scene pending to be towed.
