Police in Gulu district is having in detention Lual Deng Dit, 18-year-old South Sudanese student on allegations of murder of Samuel Rubangakene, 29 over a girl.
Deng Dit together with his other three accomplices on October 10 at around 5:40am allegedly attacked Rubangakene, a resident of Airfields Cell Bardego ward in Gulu city and assaulted him to death.
According to Aswa West and Gulu West police, the 4 students are from Gulu West Division and were returning from a Disco hall when the fight ensued.
The body of the deceased was retrieved from the road side between Gulu Army SS and St. Jude Orphanage Primary School.
Four suspects including Deng Dit were arrested to help police in investigations . Others are Rubangakene Paul David, 18, Okot Ivan Anthony, 18 and Opoka Ammalon, a 15 year old male juvenile.
The Uganda Police Force spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga confirmed to these reports and asked school administrators to deal with students peer pressure in schools.
“We strongly condemn these acts of violence by students and we call upon all school administrators to remind students of the importance of resisting peer pressure to act responsibly,” he said.
