Two people were on Monday night killed after a gas cylinder exploded in Kabuuma – Kibiti, Wakiso district.
Two people namely Nnalongo Irene Anyango and and her friend Lilian Nekesa died of injuries obtained from the explosion. They were rushed to Kiruddu hospital where they died.
Lydia Nabwire, sister to Anyango said the deceased have been pursuing their VISAs to got for “Kyeyo” in the Middle East (UAE) and that had just obtained them. She said, Nekesa was the first to take a flight this week and had traveled to bid a farewell to her friend Anyango who was also waiting for her flight this month.
According to Nabwire, they first smelt a chemical smell like a rotten egg odor in the house they turned off the cylinder tightly to stop the odor. Anyango later lit a matchbox leading to a fire outbreak.
Kauki Adadi, the landlord told reports that the deceased were fatally burned by the explosives from the gas cylinder almost all parts of their bodies.
Authorities have called on the government to sensitize people on proper use of gas cylinders to avoid such a occurrences.
