Tragedy has befallen Uganda Police Force after two of the officers perished in a road accident earlier this morning while they escorted a suspect.
The accident involved a Motor Vehicle Registration No UBF 837K Toyota Premio (driven unidentified) which collided with a Trailer KCQ 638C/ ZC 738 Foton and then later a second brush with police van UP 7483.
The accident occurred at Magamaga Trading centre along Iganga-Jinja Highway at around 05:00am. Three people died on spot.
Busoga East Region Live spokesperson James Mubi identified the deceased as D/AIP Mawa Emmanuel attached to General Crime at CID Headquarters, D/Sgt Magora Dick attached to General Crime CID Headquarters (both officers) and Wadamba Philip a suspect who was being escorted. Another pice officer identified as D/Sgt Ogudi survived with critical injuries and is admitted at Jinja Referral Hospital receiving treatments.
Mubi added that the three bodies are at Jinja Hospital mortuary for a postmortem and police investigations are in progress.
