Police in Natete Kampala is holding a woman arrested for allegedly torturing her 9-year-old stepdaughter.
The woman being held has been identified as Prossy Nabatesa, 28, a resident of Kigwanya zone Rubaga division in Kampala.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan Police says that the suspect has been living with the victim (identity withheld) a daughter to her husband a one Lule Israel who is currently abroad on Kyeyo.
According to him, on 18/08/22, at around 1pm, the child was in the kitchen where there were two charcoal stoves one with boiling content and another one on fire which the victim was trying to extinguish
The sound of the charcoal stove attracted the suspect who was inside their living room after she suspected that the soup was pouring in the stove.
On arrival , she however found the victim extinguishing the stove and out of tempers she just pushed the victim falling into the burning charcoal stove hence burning her buttocks.
Owoyesigyire added that the suspect did not take the victim to a health facility for fast aid after the incident.
The Kyigwanya LC1 chairman reported the matter to police after learning about the incident.
Police visited the scene of the crime and immediately arrested the suspect.
The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment meanwhile as they trying to get in touch with a social worker who will help get her a home as they trace for her relatives.
Owoyesigyire confirmed to the arrest of the suspect saying that she is being detained at Natete Police station as investigations continue.
