Almost two months after taking office, FDC party leaders at Najjanankumbi are set to hold a National Council Meeting to discuss the state of the party and find way forward for the party’s future politics on December 15.

Najjanankumbi leadership led by the party president Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Secretary General, Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi have been marred by pre and post election disagreements since their reelection during the controversial National Delegates Conference at Patidar Samaj Lugogo on October 6.

Till todate, the issues regarding the dirty money raised by former party president Dr. Kizza Besigye, Kira municipality MP Hon. Ssemujju Nganda and Kampala Capital City Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago and other members, and another one about the controversial National Delegates Conference convened by party Electoral Commission Chairperson, Hon. Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda which sparked into divisionism creating two factions within the party have not been resolved.

John Kikonyogo, the party spokesperson revealed that the purpose of the meeting as convened by the national chairman, Jack Sabiiti is to make “some very”  important decisions which he said he could not enumerate at the moment.

“Usually we receive reports from the chairman, Secretary General, and review minutes of the previous national council […] but, the purpose of this meeting is to discuss the state of the party and look for the way forward,” said Kikonyogo.

He noted that the meeting will involve top party officials including the party president, secretary general, national Chairperson and their deputies and over 200 delegates from all over the country.

This is the first national council meeting convened by Jack Sabiiti as the national chairman of FDC since he took over from Ambassador Wasswa Birigwa. The meeting according to spokesperson Kikonyogo, will take place at party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.

In related news, Parrots Media has learned that the FDC president Patrick Oboi Amuriat and his SG Nandala Mafabi are in Washington DC – America representing FDC at the Democratic Union Summit.

The duo took a flight over the weekend and are expected to be back in the country around December 10 to attend the national council meeting.

The spokesperson told journalists on Monday (December 4) that the duo will among other activities meet with leaders in the US to discuss on issues to revamp FDC chapters as well as meeting with party international donors and political partners in the diaspora.

“When you revamp them, you get a good representation which will be good for our future,” said Kikonyogo.
