The race for Rukiga Woman Member of Parliament representative for the 2021 elections has kicked off after five candidates expressed interests in vying for the district WMP last week.
The race is led by the NRM flag bearer, Honourable Kamusiime, wh won the previous ruling party primaries which happened on 5th September.
Caroline, who is the incumbent Woman MP of Rukiga Constituency, is seeking for the second term in the Parliament.
Atukunda Elizabeth Abaho, lost to Caroline in the previous NRM primary elections and has decided to quit the party and contest on the independent ticket. She is optimistic about winning in the coming general elections as she didn’t agree with the electoral outcomes in the previous party flag bearer elections.
Other candidates in the race are,, Niwasasira Fortunate, Atukunda Elizabeth, all contesting on independent tickets, and FDC’s Judith Aturinda.
Fortunate is a new icon in politics but has so far gained momentum with several voters chanting her name all over.

Abigail Victoria Atukunda, a familiar political associate in Kigezi politics will again appear on the ballot papers in the forthcoming general elections. Having lost to Caroline Kamusiime ( the incumbent) in 2017 NRM primary elections, She has decided to return on the independent ticket.
Abigail who lost to Catherine Ndamira in 2015 NRM party primaries for Kabale Woman MP has solemnly promised to improve on service delivery in Rukiga.
“I will focus on development and unity, together we can achieve much to regain the glory of Rukiga both in delivering on ground and be visible on the floor of the Parliament”, She lamented
However, the race is seemingly between three frontrunners, incumbent Kamusiime Caroline, Elizabeth Abaho and Abigail Atukunda.
