Mikel Arteta, the gunners coach is confident enough to express that the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal is still bright.
Arteta’s remarks follow jubilations after Aubemeyang’s leading contribution in Arsenal’s Community Shield shootout win over Liverpool.
While responding to questions fired to him on the club’s attempts to retain the player whose contract remains with only 12months to expire, Arteta had this to comment.
“I keep saying the same thing [on Aubameyang’s future]. I try to do my job which is to convince him that he’s at the right place and the right environment here to produce moments like he’s done today and he did here just three weeks ago.
Arteta remains positive for Aubemayang to stay at Fly Emirates stating that his behavior has in the recent past changed and that the club management is sweet talking him to sign a new contract.
“I think we’ve built a really good relationship between us and hopefully we can do it. Now, I am confident and I’m happy. I can see how he behaves every day and how much he works in training. It’s a really good sign.”
“I am very positive that he’s going to sign. There are a lot of things that are involved in a contract deal and we’re trying to solve them.
He revealed that the player and his agent have a significant role in his stay at the club assuring fans that they are working on the issues.
“I’m not worried [about the situation with Aubameyang]. We can only try to do as much as possible to convince the player or tell them what we think about him. We can put all the cards on the table to try to keep him here but afterwards it’s down to the player and the agent to agree to that.
Last night, Arsenal became the 2020 Community Shield champions after defeating Liverpool in a 5-4 penalties win at Wembley stadium.
Aubemayang is among the many players whose contributions in the game is attributed to the win.
