Police in Ntungamo has launched an investigation into allegations of torture at Standard College Rwashamaire involving two teachers and a student. The incident, documented under CRB 162/2025, occurred on February 5th, 2025, at around 4:00 PM.
The victim, 16-year-old Akampa Blair, a student in Senior Two, reportedly sneaked out of school and was apprehended by the school’s gateman. The gateman informed two teachers, identified as Mwesigye Anneb and Twesigye Naboth, who allegedly took Blair to the staff room for interrogation. During the interrogation, Blair confessed to leaving school premises to buy chapati in Rwashamaire town.
It is alleged that the teachers compelled Blair to write an apology and then subjected him to canes and slaps. A video of the incident, captured by an unknown individual, went viral on social media, prompting police intervention and the commencement of an inquiry.
A team of detectives from Ntungamo Central Police Station visited the scene and recorded relevant statements. Blair, who was interviewed at the school, provided a statement and underwent a medical examination (PF3), which revealed harm.
An exhibit of one wire was recovered from the office of the Director of Studies (DOS), who is believed to be one of the suspects. No arrests have been made so far as the investigation continues.
