Ruhaama Secondary School in Ntungamo District has received a UGX 1.9 billion infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving learning conditions and addressing space constraints.
The newly commissioned facilities include a modern computer laboratory complex, a multipurpose hall, six fully furnished classrooms, and two lined toilets, each with five stances.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ntungamo District Chairperson Sam Muchunguzi Rwakigooba commended the government for its commitment to education and for supplementing parents’ efforts. He emphasized that the new infrastructure would significantly alleviate the school’s space challenges.
Ntungamo Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Rosemary Atuhaire applauded Edgar Kwesiga, the director of Goldina Contractors and General Supplies, for ensuring quality work and completing the project on schedule. She also lauded the Ministry of Education and Sports for prioritizing critical investments in the education sector.
Ntungamo District Chief Administrative Officer Mathius Ndifuna credited the school’s Board of Governors for working closely with the government to ensure the project’s successful execution.
Edgar Kwesiga, the contractor, reassured stakeholders of his company’s dedication to delivering high-quality infrastructure. “We are committed to upholding the highest standards in all our projects and ensuring timely completion,” he said.
With an enrollment of 873 students, Ruhaama Secondary School has long struggled with space limitations. District Education Officer Fred Bahati described the new facilities as a timely intervention to ease congestion and enhance learning conditions.
Headteacher Nicholas Tumutoreine expressed gratitude for the development, calling it a significant boost for both students and staff.
Dr. Stephen Bwekingo, Chairperson of the Board of Governors, praised the district leadership and technical staff for their continuous support and supervision, which he said played a crucial role in the project’s successful implementation.
The newly commissioned infrastructure is expected to transform the school’s learning environment, providing students with better facilities and improving overall educational outcomes.
