Police in Rukungiri is investigating circumstances under which a one Jackson Arinaitwe stabbed his wife to death.
The suspect is a health worker and in- charge Ngoma health centre II in Nyakishenyi sub county Rubabo county, who allegedly stabbed Enid Natukunda with a knife to death.
It is alleged that on Friday 19th,May 2023, Enid Natukunda’s parents invited the couple for a visit which the husband declined on grounds that he did not have money to buy some essential items for the parents.
However, she insisted and visited her parents alone. It is said that the couple picked a quarrel which forced Natukunda to start sleeping alone in the visitor’s room after she had returned from visiting her parents.
Yesterday night of 27thMay,2023, at their home in Rwenanura cell Nyabitete parish Buyanja sub county, the children heard their parents fighting and called their neighbors.
Upon arrival, the neighbors heard noise coming from the store and on entering, they saw Jackson hanging on the rope which prompted them to cut the rope and rescued him from suicide.
They later entered the house and found the body of the wife lying in a pool of blood under the bed, her neck stabbed several times.
They immediately alerted Police at Buyanja which upon receiving the information, swung into action and secured the scene of crime and arrested the suspect.
The murder weapon ( knife) was recovered and exhibited and blood samples from the deceased collected. The body was later conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center III for postmortem.
ASP Elly Maate has condemned this act and called upon all couples to always sit and agree on what to do not always doing things on individual basis. Matte said has rendered children orphans and helpless since the father has been arrested to serve his sentence.
