A security guard in Kazo district is in police cells after he was arrested for allegedly shooting dead a 55-old-year man.
Micheal Mujuruzi, 43, a security guard employed by Saracen Security Company allegedly shot and killed Sunday Emmanuel on July 15, 2024, at around 9:45pm.
The incident occured in Kazo II, Kazo Town Council while the deceased was collecting firewood in the farm of the suspect’s voice.
“The suspect was providing security for the residence and farm of Mr. Ruyondo Kwame when he encountered Sunday Emmanuel, who was allegedly cutting firewood on the farm. The suspect stopped Emmanuel, who attempted to flee, and subsequently shot him in the back”, said ASP Samson Kasasiira, the Rwizi police spokesperson.
The incident was reported to Kazo Police Station by the suspect’s employer the following day.
Kasasiira said they recovered one cartridge and the weapon used in the shooting at the scene of the incident.
The body of the deceased was taken to Ibanda Health Center IV mortuary for postmortem examination.
