A devastating road accident occurred early this morning 12th June, 2024 on the Ntungamo-Rukungiri road, leaving eight people feared dead and several others injured.
The tragic incident happened at Kakiika Muruka Parish in Nyamunuka, Ntungamo district, at around 6:00 am when a Kasaba bus veered off the road and collided with a taxi that was parked by the roadside, changing a flat tyre.
The taxi, registration number UBN 337H, was traveling from Rukungiri to Kampala with ten passengers on board, driven by Robert Arinaitwe. Eyewitnesses report that only two passengers survived the horrific crash.
The bus, registration number UAAP 385, belonging to Kasaba Bus Company, was carrying several passengers who sustained minor injuries.
Ntungamo police have arrived at the scene, but no official statement has been released yet.
The accident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing condolences to the families of the victims. The cause of the accident is still unknown and is under investigation.
