Ugandan Local Tourism Operators Urged to Participate in OTM Expo in India

Uganda government has asked local tourism operators and other key players in the industry to participate in the coming Open (Outbound) Travel Market (OTM), travel trade fare in India.

The show is scheduled to take place from 30 January to 2nd
February 2025 at JIO World Convention Center, Bombay.

The Uganda delegation at the OTM 2025 will be composed of the representatives
from following Uganda High Commission New Delhi, Uganda Airlines, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority, among other entities and sectors.

Martin Mugarra Bahinduka, the minister of state for tourism, wildlife and antiquities said the trade show will enable to market to the international market.

“The overall objective of Uganda’s participation in the OTM International Travel and Tourism Marketing at Jio World convention center India, is to Market Uganda’s tourism potential and destination to India, South Asia and the
World at large,” he said.

Uganda is expected to promote birding, culture and heritage tourism, wildlife experiences, culinary experiences and iconic places at the trade show.

“Participation in events like the OTM directly supports our efforts to diversify markets, attract high-value tourists, and generate the revenue needed to uplift communities and drive national development,” Mugarra added.

The Theme of Uganda’s participation according to the High Commission is: “Explore Uganda, the Pearl of
Africa”

Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, Shri Upender revealed that Uganda is participating in this expo for the first time. He noted that the expo offers Uganda an opportunity to market her tourism industry.

“And this is an excellent opportunity for Uganda to present “Explore the Pearl of Africa” tourism to the Indian market through a dedicated space. And I understand that Uganda is participating for the first time in this expo.

The government expects to generate over UGX 13 billion in tourism business deals promoting through partnerships
between Uganda tour operators and international hosted buyers at
OTM 2025.

OTM the leading Travel, Trade Show in India and Asia. The show will be held in Mumbai India, the largest and leading travel show in Asia – with over 1600+ exhibitors from 60+ countries and at least 30+ Indian states. The expo provides access to 40,000+ trade
visitors and 1000+ top buyers across various industry sectors, all with the support of a strong hosted buyer program.
