BUSHENYI |

The Bushenyi district Chairman LCV, Willis Bashasha has denied allegations of having a hand in a written letter making rounds on social media coercing independent Eunice Tworekirwe Kansiime to withdraw her candidature for district WMP seat against National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Director’s wife Annet Kamusiime Mugisha – NRM, and two others.

In a letter dated October 9, purported to be authored by Willis Bashasha to his sister-in-law Tworekirwe Eunice Kansiime alleged that the family was against her decision to contest for this position and was therefore imposition to support her.

“As a family we have stated it categorically clear that we don’t want to support you to contest for the many reasons we have been giving you.”

“Most important among them, to keep our family cohesion and not to allow external players penetrate us,” read a letter.

Tworekirwe was further  threatened to stop using her husband’s name; Kansiime under which it is written was against the Bashasha family.

“We have therefore as a family in consultation with Kansiime, our brother / your husband decided that you relinquish his name from your names as they appear on campaign posters and stick to yours,” read excerpts of the letter.

However, Bashasha through his lawyers of Nambale Nerima & Co Advocates and Legal Consults has denied the allegations.

According to his lawyers, Bashasha didn’t author the letter and the signature appended to it is a forgery.

In another document dated October 20, as released by Bashasha’s lawyers copied to the Bushenyi district registrar and Ms. Tworekirwe Eunice Kansiime, the public was asked to disregard the first letter and treat it with contempt.

They revealed that investigations to find out the real author of the circulating letter are ongoing.

“A formal complaint has been lodged with police to investigate and apprehend the preparation of this harassment,” Bashasha’s lawyers said.

The Bushenyi district Woman Member of Parliament race is one of the hotly contested posts in the greater Bushenyi. The race is between Annet Kamusiime Mugisha- wife to NWSC Director Eng Silva Mugisha, who defeated Minister Karoro in the recently concluded NRM party primary elections, Eunice Tworekirwe Kansiime (indp), Madina Lukwago (Indp) and Federica Nshemereirwe (FDC).

There has been circulating rumors of conflicts of interest among the Bashasha family in supporting NRM’s  Annet K Mugisha since supporting their own would term them Anti- NRM constitution which “feeds” them.
